SYNOPSIS

Ease on down the yellow brick road in this dazzling, soul-infused retelling of The Wizard of Oz. Bursting with gospel, R&B, and pop rhythms, The Wiz reimagines L. Frank Baum’s beloved story through the lens of African American culture, transforming a familiar journey into a celebration of courage, friendship, and self-discovery. When Dorothy, a shy young woman from Kansas, is swept away by a tornado to the magical Land of Oz, she embarks on an unforgettable adventure to find her way home. Along the way, she meets a lovable Scarecrow in search of brains, a Tin Man longing for a heart, and a Lion who must find his courage. Together, they set out to meet the mysterious Wiz — a powerful figure who may hold the key to their dreams. Filled with show-stopping numbers like “Ease on Down the Road” and “Home,” The Wiz blends heart, humor, and high energy in a joyous celebration of community and hope. It’s a story that reminds us that the magic we seek has been within us all along.
