SYNOPSIS
Based on the acclaimed 1962 film and original teleplay, Days of Wine and Roses is a hauntingly beautiful musical about love, addiction, and the long road to redemption. With a lush, jazz-inflected score by Adam Guettel and a deeply human book by Craig Lucas, this poignant story explores how two ordinary people can find—and lose—themselves in each other. Set in 1950s New York, the musical follows Joe Clay, an ambitious public relations man, and Kirsten Arnesen, a bright and independent secretary. What begins as a whirlwind romance, fueled by cocktails and charm, soon spirals into a shared dependency that threatens to destroy the life they’ve built together. As Joe and Kirsten struggle to confront their demons, they must decide whether love is enough to overcome the powerful grip of addiction. At once intimate and soaring, Days of Wine and Roses is a deeply moving portrait of hope, heartbreak, and the human spirit’s capacity for renewal—a story that lingers like the last note of a song you can’t forget.
